frozen and such

i loved playing frozen. the first day was really great when we had a full team. I learned a lot from the a-team guys on our team, we ran a bunch of diffrent plays I didn't know like clam, or whatever its called. Slowhite kicked our ass, but I had a score that game after I out jumped this one girl (yay). The second day was not so great, we only had 8 players, but it was still worth it. We ended up joining Flake at the end after they played savage the whole day. and yesterday i played in IM Championships for volleyball, exciting, but now my knees are all bruised. tomorrow=practice!!

alums = ninjas?

Frozen. I'd say it was a pretty good time. Playing with the alums was kind of like playing with a group of kids from practice a few years ago. We're all a little better than we were then, but there's more potential for miscommunication and not knowing each other's styles.

Hottest part of the day on sunday was throwing some gender switchy D against a Wombat O that exploited our men deep. Hoffman posts in back and the women work to cut off the in-cuts up front. Brilliant. It frustrated and confused them for about an 8-point run.

Personally, I played alright. I think I was 4-0 for forehand hucks to women. One was almost full field! Yay for having Fuyuki and Matissa (rockstar from Brutesquad???) as receivers. However, I was about 0-4 for backhand hucks or hucks to men. I know, I'm a hater.

There wasn't much D to be played on the women, sadly. Coed is often like that when you come up against bad coed teams that don't include their women in their offense. (Yes, I'm a hater.)

Awesome moment: I have the disc on the end line and a few people are making crappy jukey cuts right in front of me. It's all crowded, but Mikey makes a crystal clear, perfect cut to the back corner, so I put it--just a little, quick, low-release flick, right into his hands. A split second after it goes up, two wombat men bid from either side of me and smash into each other and the ground at the same time, coming up empty handed, of course. Sometimes Ultimate is like a tacky ninja movie. Totally sweet.

Matt: Blech.

I don't know what it is, but I've been feeling really sick since Frozen ended. I did play a ton this weekend, but still.

I also messed up my thumb yesterday playing wink tackle (which I now officially loathe); I'm not sure if it's just jammed or something worse, but it's currently fairly swollen and hard to bend at the knuckle. I'll give it a day or so and then get it checked out if it doesn't improve.

Other than that, well, enjoyed Frozen a ton--nothing like loads of pt against B-level competition to fuel the old ego. Worked on my throwing a bit, had some pretty good hucks (and also some fairly ugly ones), but it was good practice. Highlight of the weekend would be skying a girl and having her call me out on it afterwards (hey, I can't help playing defense).

Probably gonna take it easy for a few days and recover, see if I get any better. Hopefully won't miss more than a day or two of practice/lifting as a result...
