Who is this guy?

Okay, first time trying this, let's see if works. For the 09's who don't know me, I am The Carr, aka Brett. I have been on the Earth Science off-campus program the entire fall and am now at my home in Oklahoma where it was 65 degrees today. That's right, I'm done with classes for the term, until April actually because while I'm around in the Winter it's actually my off term.

Anyway, during the Stretch I managed to maintain my off-campus program goal which (veteran senza pantaloni will remember) is that I did not gain a gazillion pounds. today however I did gain 4, and that would've been a spew-worthy 6 or 7 if my dad hadn't cleared the table of all food while I was downing my thirds. The stretch actually kept me in pretty good shape. I jogged or did plyos with Chimpo occasionally, but otherwise the 10 miles or so of hiking we would often do in a day kept me sweating often enough. During down times I would on throws. My goal is to have consistant hucks by the end of winter.

Now on to my real point: today and the future. Today I went running with my dad and one of his friends, I think it was around 5 miles at a pretty slow pace, I sprinted up a couple hills to get a bit of an extra workout. For the month of december while I'm home I will be trying to play ultimate as often as I can with the OU guys I know (may even get to go to a tournament with them next weekend) and otherwise trying to go jogging 3 times a week or so intermixing that with some sprints if I can motivate myself.

Finally, no pants activities in recent months: For halloween I wore, in full view of the public, a flag safety-pinned around my waist with only boxers underneath. I managed not to flash anyone. Of course, this was in nevada, so I doubt anyone would have really cared.

Righ then, happy thanksgiving to you all, and good luck with the rest of the term (suckers).

mmm, food coma....

I love Thanksgiving.

Anyways, got in a lift on Monday with Dermott and Billy, more of a light lifting session with teaching of various exercises than a "hard guy" lifting session, but productive nonetheless.

I've since been fairly lazy, but I've been keeping up my now year-old habit of doing some light plyos before I shower, and I've been showering daily, so I've been active; gonna try to get a morning wake-up session into the mix as well. Planning to get another lifting session in tomorrow or Saturday.

Being home's nice, been enjoying the extra time to play some video games and catch up with family.

Wow

It's been forever. I know - I'm piss-poor at blogging. For what it's worth, I had this kickass, guns-and-sex post all written up and ready to post before my comp got stolen. It was mostly about my playing at Brown, slightly confused (though not really bitter) about my lack of playing time. For whatever it's worth (admittedly, not very much, since I played about as many points for A team this fall as times I listened to the radio...read: never, for those of you who don't know me), I am still turnless in competitive ultimate. In the points I did play at Brown, I got two point blocks and threw for and caught a score. But whatever. The main issue was that I wasn't being played to my strengths. Even though my zone D has come along immensely this fall (to the point where I could probably hack it with just about anyone in a cup or front wall), I only played like 2 or 3 Z points and was put on the wings when I did. Also, I was avoided on O points like the Avian Flu, despite my typically reliable hands and my throws which are getting smarter every day. Probably something I should have voiced to Yi, but by the time I would have, my competitive season was done for the fall...until next fall, actually, since I'll be in Argentina this spring. Guess I'll just have to reassess my place on the team when that time comes.
In the meantime, now that H & H week is over, I'm getting back into the swing of working out. Abs and pushups every night this week. Shoveled two rich-people driveways today. I'll hopefully find some time to work runs in next week, if anyone wants to join. My life will be immeasurably less hectic in the winter, so I should be able to make it out to lift and workout regularly.

Happy Thankgiving to all! Hope you're having a nice week off.

Matt's chillin.

Yeah, I was sick for most of the past week. I'm good now though (almost a week exactly from when I started feeling symptoms, the ideal window for immune response--my white blood cells are great!), though last week was more or less a lost one. At least I got to make some progress in Soul Calibur III with the down time.

Not a ton else to say. Probably gonna get some modified workout action with the limited weights I have at home over break, and otherwise just spend time with my family/be lazy playing video games while I'm home. Looking forward to the slight down period to re-energize before conditioning proper starts up.
